Edwin Jacob Geiger, better known as "Ed" or "Eddie", passed away at St. Joseph's Home in Medicine Hat with family and friend, Lana by his side on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Ed leaves to cherish his memory: son, Tim (Karri) Geiger and their daughter, Mallory; daughter, Kathleen Eresman and her children, Jessica and Darien as well as one brother, Eldon (Pat) Geiger and their children, Monica and Monty and his two children, Login and Keiden. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Jacob 'Jack' in 1991 and Lydia in 2005. He was born in Medicine Hat to proud parents, Jack and Lydia (nee Anhorn) Geiger. Along with his younger brother, Eldon, Ed was raised on a farm in the Linacre District of Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Fox Valley and at the age of 16, he moved to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and started working his first job at Humphries Chicken Hatchery. He met and later married his first wife, Margaret Friday in December of 1963, and they had two children together, Tim and Kathleen (Kathy). Ed worked at several jobs through the years from working for the Town of Maple Creek, the Department of Highways as well as construction work, and ranching. Ed had several hobbies, some of which included stock car driving, snowmobile racing, camping, dancing, playing pool and riding his bike. He liked to have fun, enjoy life and socialize...that's for sure! Ed later re-married to Connie Lightfoot from Consul, Sk. They lived together in Maple Creek until moving to Medicine Hat in 2018, before separating in 2023. Ed then moved into St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, retirement home, where he resided until his passing. "Dad, you will be missed by all!" Family and friends extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the amazing staff at St. Joseph's Home. A Graveside Celebration will be held at the Maple Creek Cemetery at a future date. The date and time of the celebration burial will be posted at the Maple Creek Post office in the weeks prior to the celebration. Those wishing to make donations may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
