Mrs. Janet Steinke, beloved wife of Mr. Jim Steinke of Redcliff, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the age of 63 years. Along with Jim, her loving husband of 44 years on the 22nd of this month, Janet leaves to cherish her memory three children and their families: Kevin (Tina) and their children, Brad (Jaqueline) and Amanda; Wayne (Karen) and their children, Cael and Irelyn; Tammy (Kelly) and their children, Jaxon, Hayley and Harper. Janet’s memory will also be cherished by her siblings, Stan (Johanna) Kambeitz, Norm Kambeitz, Geraldine (George) Kiebel, Bob (Rose) Kambeitz and Danny (Roxanne) Kambeitz; in-laws, Matilda (Harry) Bonagofsky, George (Sylvia) Steinke, Maryanne (Alvin) Marshall, Philip (Lorraine) Steinke, Alfred (Janice) Steinke and Ingrid Rasi Steinke as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Nellie Kambeitz; father and mother-in-law, George and Cecilia Steinke as well as her sister-in-law, Karen Kambeitz. Janet was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her family meant everything to her. Mom made everything better. She was always our biggest fan and wanted to see us succeed in everything and anything. Janet loved family get-togethers, playing cards and games. She enjoyed the special times with her and Jim’s brothers and sisters. Her 7 grandchildren were her pride and joy and she never missed an opportunity to see them shine at soccer, guitar, dance and hockey. They always knew Grandma would be there watching and cheering. Grandma was the queen of lists to stay organized and help her plan for the next family event. If she couldn’t talk to you, she would text or email and end every message with a long list of emoji’s. While these symbols of love were always comforting, we didn’t need them to know how much she loved us. Janet was Jim’s guiding light; without her constant love he would have been lost. She will be forever remembered and loved by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vigil Prayers which will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 - 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Father Philip Le Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Redcliff Cemetery with a luncheon following thereafter in the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Janet may be made to the Redcliff Public Library, P.O. Box 280, Redcliff, Alberta, T0J 2P0 or towards cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 Crestwood Square One, 1865 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8.

Oh Janet, I just cannot believe you are gone. I have so many memories of you. We were neighbour's from when I was a small girl. I never, ever saw you angry, oh, even when you were trying to be stern, you really weren't.? Always smiling and laughing. One of my earlier memories, is when Tammy had invited me over for a tea party.....cups and all!? I had been sick, but I told my Mom I felt fine, so off I went. Well, I ended up being sick, and poor Janet had to clean up after me. But it didn't phase Janet at all. I remember when you worked at the store in Redcliff. My Mom would send me to get something, and if I couldn't find it, you were always able to help me find what I needed. More recently, I remember running into you at Safeway while you were working, you always took the time to chat with me, laugh with me....until I left, because I am sure we could have chatted all day. Just last year, it was a pleasure to be able to share the soccer 'experience', as Mason and Jaxon were on the same team. I am glad you were able to remain friends with my family throughout the years. Janet, you will be always remembered. You are no longer suffering. One day, your family will see you again. Jim, Kevin, Tina, Wayne, Karen, Tammy , Kelly, and all of the grandkids.....my thoughts and prayers are with you in this sad time. I know nothing will erase the pain of losing Janet, but she will always be alive in your hearts. God Bless. Always in my thoughts and prayers, Sharla
