Mrs. Lydia Pohl, beloved wife of the late Mr. Edward Pohl, passed away in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the age of 86 years. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Doreen (Lawrence) Oddan of Medicine Hat; one son, Elmer (Dorothy) Pohl of Nanaimo, B.C.; two grandchildren, Leslie (Doug) Fleming of Valemount, B.C. and their children Laura Lee, Lyndsay and Brian; Lorie (Jerome) Rose of Calgary and their children Lena and Lauren. Lydia is also survived by one sister, Tillie Heine of Medicine Hat as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; one infant daughter; her parents, Karl and Philippine Zulauf; one brother and six sisters. Lydia was born in the Fox Valley, Saskatchewan area on April 7, 1917. Along with Edward, she farmed in the Golden Prairie area, later moving into the village of Golden Prairie before retiring to Medicine Hat. Lydia spent the last two years at The Riverside Central Park Lodge. Her hands were never idle as she enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting and knitting. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, March 15, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Loren Hosfield officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made towards Electric Beds at the Medicine Hat Hospital through the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation, c/o the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 9Z9.
