Obituary - Frank Schile

Frank Schile

1934 - 2023

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Schile(2023)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Frank Schile announce his passing in Cornwall, Ontario on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Frank was born in Medicine Hat to Jack and Caroline Schile and was the youngest of nine siblings who have all predeceased him: Anna (Louis) Sauer, Peter (Elizabeth), Andrew (Dorothy), Lottie (Harold) Barnett, Plara (Dick) Drinkle, Magdalena (Tony) Weisgerer and Louis (Barbara). Frank was a lucky man who found love three times with his late wives, Terry Myles and Jean Young and with his current wife, Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Routhier. He will also be fondly remembered by the children and grandchildren of Bobbie and Jean as well as many nieces and nephews. Being called Grandpa, was such a joy to him. Until his retirement, Frank enjoyed a long and successful career with the TD Bank. He loved to travel and spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona. Frank was a prolific reader, loved political debate and all things related to trains, railroads and baseball. He also liked to end most days with a glass of good scotch. Frank will be remembered as an old school gentleman who showed kindness and generosity to everybody he knew and he will be greatly missed! The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 - 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Roque Pereira celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub, 440 Maple Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0L3.

Words alone cannot describe the deep sadness I feel. He was my favorite Uncle. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to visit him very often. I have photos of him when he was 9 years old holding me in his arms. He was really a great guy... having spent time with him in Mesa, Arizona. He had such a great sense of humour and the jokes were hilarious. To all my cousin in Medicine Hat I share my condolence.
