Leroy Sordahl

July 8, 1947 ~ November 12, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leroy Norman Sordahl announce his unexpected passing at his home in Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 75 years. Leroy was born on Tuesday, July 8, 1947, in Swift Current, SK., and grew up and completed his schooling in Admiral, SK. At a small church surrounded by family on April 20, 1968, he married the love of his life Jeanie Sewell. Leroy held numerous positions within the oilfield and retired after 40 years with Baker Hughes. He enjoyed practical jokes and was a huge prankster and trickster. Leroy’s favourite hobbies included playing games and visiting with family, cards, camping and trips to the States. He was also an avid sports fan who always cherished watching his kids and grandkids play sports throughout the years. Leroy always enjoyed watching baseball (the Blue Jays in particular) and watching curling. He was a big fan of coffee from Truckers Restaurant, burgers from A&W and ribs from Juggies Pub. Leroy leaves behind to cherish his memory and legacy, his beloved wife, Jean; children, Denise (Ried), Doug (Jody), Ron (Kathy) and Greg (Heather); 12 grandchildren, Lindsay, Landon, Jill (Cody), Sophie, Avery (Spencer), Ardyn, Kale, Kirstyn (Tyler), Jayce (Madi), Jerad (Tavya), Nolan and Natalie; one great-grandson, Slayde as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

While in medical distress, Leroy’s son-in-law, Ried James attempted to resuscitate him. During this valiant effort, Ried suffered his own medical distress and with profound sadness, we share that Ried also passed away as a result.

He was predeceased by his parents, Norval and Esther Sordahl (nee Hagen), his sisters, Debbie and Darlene and his dogs, Snowball and Lady. A come and go celebration to honour Leroy's life and share memories will be held at the Medicine Hat Curling Rink, 880 - 2nd Street SE, Medicine Hat on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
