Gloria Evelyn Filgas (nee Schneider), beloved wife of Dale Filgas, passed away in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the age of 66 years. Along with Dale, Gloria leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters, Brandy (Jack) Mitchell and Sheree Pilgrim (J.P. Lessard); grandchildren, Leta Mitchell and Rayden Pilgrim of Medicine Hat; four sisters, Linda (Donald) Mastel, Annabelle Mastel (Doug Mackenzie) both of Medicine Hat, Betty (Scott) Peters of Maple Creek and Sylvia Moser of Medicine Hat; brother, Frank (Tena) Schneider of Fox Valley; sisters-in-law, Bev Filgas of Medicine Hat and Cheryl (Lyle) Rebman of Dunmore; three brothers-in-law, Greg (Kenna) Filgas of Coalhurst, Brad (Anne) Filgas of Tempe, AZ., and Mike Filgas of Medicine Hat; fathers-in-law, Walter Filgas and Eric Stephenson; 24 nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ and Frank Schneider.
Gloria was born on June 22, 1956, in Prelate, Saskatchewan and was raised on the farm in Fox Valley before moving to Medicine Hat at the age of 18. She married Dale on June 19, 1976. Gloria enjoyed playing baseball, darts, card games, dice, bingo and going camping but most of all, time spent with family was her greatest love.
A Celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel , 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. A reception will follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Gloria’s name may be made directly to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre c/o the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6.
