It is with heavy hearts that the family of Helena Ruth Evans announces her passing at the St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the age of 95 years. Helena will be cherished in the hearts of her daughters, Carol (Dennis) Evans-Bergen, Gail (Sid) Hurlbert and Yvonne (Warren) Affleck; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; a daughter, Marie Anderson as well as nine siblings. A Celebration of Helena’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Major Murray Jaster officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.

We are so very sorry to hear of Aunt Helena's passing. Such a wonderful long life but hard to say good-bye. Gail, Carole Yvonne and all other family members please accept our sincere sympathy. Look after each other.

I was so sorry to read of your dear mother's passing. From my teaching days in Irvine, I recall how committed she was to "her girls" and also how supportive she was to teachers like me during those years. I know that her legacy will be in the values that she shared with you during her life. Your loss is shared by those who were fortunate know your mother.
