Obituary - Art Eiswerth

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Paul Arthur “Art” Eiswerth, beloved husband of Marguerite, announce his passing at St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the age of 82 years. Along with Marguerite, Art’s memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of his children, Daryl (Cathy) Eiswerth, Laurie (Robert) Wilson, Randy (Beth) Connell and Rhonda (Darrell) Slobodin; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie), Ryan (Christie), Melissa, Kevin (Torny), Jerry (Jade), Jesse (Megan), Danica (Roman), Christopher, Bobby and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Char-lee, Locklan, Caleb, Ella, McKenzie and Ariel. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Marie Thibeault, Richard (Sharon) Eiswerth and Frank (Linda) Eiswerth; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Eiswerth and Jackie Eiswerth; numerous nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Nessa Jurasek and Joyce Hento. Art was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Eiswerth; brothers, Wilfred, Victor and Kenny; sisters, Floreen, Bernadette, Claira, Katharine and Leotina and brothers-in-law, Bob, Gabe, Billy, Jack and Stan. Paul Arthur Eiswerth known by all as “Art”, was born in Simpson, Saskatchewan and grew up as a farm boy in Young, SK., along with his   brothers and sisters. As a young adult he ventured to Regina, SK., looking for work, doing odd jobs until he became a Regina Police Officer. After a short time he knew this was not the job for him and ventured into working at a service station. He was later hired by Co-op to work at their service station and worked his way to managing three stations for them. During this time, he married and became the proud father to Daryl and Laurie. The family then moved to B.C., where Art continued to own and operate service stations for many years. Following his divorce, he met the station’s parts delivery girl, “Marg”. In January 1984, Art returned to Regina with Marg in tow to own and operate Hill Avenue Texaco. They married in August 1986 in B.C., with their children, Daryl, Randy, Rhonda and Laurie standing up for them. After many moves and many stations later, they relocated to Medicine Hat in 1998 and eventually took over running Gas Plus (Tempo) gas station, until Art was forced into retirement this past October. Throughout the years, Art enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, family gatherings and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grand-children, and especially his devoted wife, Marg. He enjoyed working and interacting with customers and was known as the man with the “joke of the day”. He will be greatly missed by many!  Art’s life will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Friday, June 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., with Major Murray Jaster officiating. A time of fellowship will follow thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
