Obituary - Trevor Hasselberg

Trevor Hasselberg

1960 - 2014

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Hasselberg(2014)
With heavy hearts, family announce the sudden passing of their beloved husband, father, son and brother.  Left to cherish Trevor’s memory are his wife, Victoria;  his children whom he was very proud of, Kristie and Dale (Megan Braumberger); father, Eddie (Jean) Hasselberg;  brothers, Daryl (Peggy) of Two Hills, Vern (Terry) of Airdrie and Jamie (Lynette) of Innisfail;  step-sister, Lori Leinweber-Merriman of Calgary; mother-in-law, Helen Liebelt;  brother-in-law, Rod Liebelt (Alison) of Medicine Hat as well as many nephews, nieces and their families.  He was predeceased by his mother, Norma (Thurlow) Ulrick and his father-in-law, Nels Liebelt.  Trevor was born in Calgary on July 4, 1960 and attended schools in the Bowness and Montgomery areas.  He met Vickie Liebelt in Calgary and followed her family to Brooks in 1977 where they later married in 1981.  They had two children, Dale in 1988 and Kristie in 1991.  Trevor started working in the oil service industry in the late 70’s, spending many years working for Nowsco, in and around Alberta.  He also spent 20 years working overseas in several different countries in Asia and the Middle East. Trevor resided in Islamabad, Pakistan in 1986 with Vickie and in Miri, Malaysia from 1991-1994 with Vickie and the children.  After settling in Medicine Hat, he continued working in Russia, Cuba and Kazakhstan.  After retiring from overseas, he started a new path in his career and started his own consultant company working in northern and southern Alberta until his passing. Trevor enjoyed traveling - recently to Japan, China, Mexico and just a few weeks ago, to South Dakota.  He also enjoyed camping with his family and was an avid NASCAR racing fan trying hard never to miss a race on TV.  Every year, Trevor looked forward to his hunting trips which were a special time with his dad, brother Jamie and his friends. Trevor was most at peace while at home with the love of his life, Vickie, and doing home improvements.  When Dale or Kristie would call him and ask for help or advice, he was always ready to assist them in any way.  His favourite time of day was first thing in the morning, when with his cup of coffee, he would watch the birds in the backyard at the many bird houses he put up.  He also enjoyed long walks with Vickie at Echo Dale.  Trevor was very kind and dearly loved by all who new him… he leaves a huge hole in everyone’s heart. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating.
