Mr. Robert (Bob) Garyk, beloved husband of Gladys Garyk of Redcliff, passed away peacefully with his family by his side while at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, October 7, 2013, at the age of 69 years. Along with his loving wife, Gladys, Bob leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Deidra Garyk and Erlene (Blake) Deobald; his very special grandson, Vann Deobald; two brothers, Mitch Garyk and Arnie (Angela) Guspodaryk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Michalena (Pauline) Guspodaryk; one brother, Eugene Garyk and a sister-in-law, Audrey Garyk. Bob was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, on November 21, 1943, and raised in Roblin, Manitoba. On April 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Gladys Hojnocki, in Roblin, Manitoba. Bob had a great work ethic and was employed the majority of his working career as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was very skilled with his hands and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix once he set his mind to it! Bob was a very knowledgeable man and was often asked to share his advise. Whether mentoring his co-workers or offering sound financial advise, Bob always made time for those around him. He enjoyed a good conversation on the phone with close friends and treasured every moment spent with his family. Bob had many interests and hobbies, some of which included cars, airplanes, keeping up with current affairs, watching the stocks, camping and fishing as well as watching football and hockey. He appreciated each opportunity to be a part of something special and create lasting memories. Some of the more recent special memories were generated during trips to Cuba and Mexico with the family, his 40th anniversary party, attending air shows, visits to the farm and especially the birth of his only grandchild, Vann. Bob’s family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Carmel Hospice, St. Joseph’s Home. Their sincere, compassionate care and support during Bob’s stay will forever be remembered by the family. Aunt Gladys and family....
I'm so sorry for your loss. Such an early ending to Uncle Bob's life's journey. I will truly miss Uncle Bob; his insightfulness, his smile, his witty humour and generous and caring nature. Because I spent so many summers with your family I have a some really great memories! I especially enjoyed waiting for Uncle Bob to walk through the door after a day at work and say something witty about what was cooking in the kitchen!

Please accept my deepest condolences in the passing of Bobby G. He was a great man that will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him here and there over the past 10+ years and I am grateful for that time. Bobby G was a breath of fresh air in an industry that can all too often be harsh and jaded. Bob was such a nice guy to be around, polite, caring and fun, just an all around super human being. He also was the master of his craft, he amazed us all with skills. I'm sure every new hoe operater at South Rock will forever be compared to Mr. Bobby G!! I feel like I speak for all my fellow co workers when I say that Bob was very well respected and liked. Our world will be a little less brighter with out him. I'm truely saddened and sorry for your loss.

Deidra, I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I remember all too well going down this path recently and one thing that provided a semblance of composure for me was the journey down memory lane with my family. May the memories of your Dad help you find peace.
