Obituary - Doris Gregory

Doris Gregory

1956 - 2013

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Gregory(2013)
Doris Gregory, beloved wife of the late Leroy Gregory, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the age of 57 years. Doris Gregory was born a daughter to Pearl and Albert Petersen in Stettler, Alberta on February 26, 1956. Doris lost her father in 1961 when she was only 5 years old. Doris and her mother lived in their family home until she was finished school. They left Stettler to live in Edmonton, Alberta where Doris was employed by McClouds in their warehouse.  She married Leroy Gregory on October 16, 1982. Their daughter, Allison, was born August 19, 1983 and their son, Christopher, was born on April 26, 1995.  On December 8, 2000, Leroy passed away leaving a big void in all their lives. Doris and Chris moved to Medicine Hat in October 2006 where she continued to reside until her passing. One of the great joys in Doris’ life was when she became a grandmother when Allison gave birth to her grandson on January 7, 2005. Doris had an eclectic personality enjoying many interests, ceramics being one of them.  Everyone looked forward to getting something she had made. She loved to read and have coffee time with various friends, telling them about her grandson and children.  Doris loved it when family came to visit her.  She was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Bob and her husband Leroy.  She leaves behind to mourn her passing: daughter, Allison Gregory; grandson, Colin; son, Christopher; brother, John Petersen; sister, Florence English along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Doris will be laid to rest on June 21, 2013, at Evergreen Memorial Garden in Edmonton, Alberta, along side her husband, Leroy. Doris may have died young, but lived life to the fullest.  May she rest in peace.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Doris. I grew up with Allison and knew Doris through her daughter. It's only goodbye for a little while. Until you meet again...

I was sorry to hear about you losing your mom. I hope that you are doing ok during this difficult time. I never know what to say in times like this but this passage really helped me when I lost my dad. "Those who have lived in our hearts are never really gone. As long as we keep them with us, in our hearts and our thoughts, they will be with us always. For love, which is timeless, never ceases to exist. S.E. MacNaughton." Try to take good care of yourself and may your memories of your mom and your times together bring you some comfort. If there is anything at all that you need, even just to vent, please feel free.
