Obituary - Hilde Haeberle

Hilde Haeberle

1925 - 2007

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Haeberle(2007)

Mrs. Hilde Haeberle passed away peacefully in the company of those who loved her, on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the age of 82 years. Hilde leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Wolfgang and Rolf, her daughter in laws, Patty and Brenda, and her granddaughters, Holly, Kirsten, Keelin, and Deirdre, and her nieces, nephews and families in Germany. Her husband, Bernhardt, her parents and her three brothers, predeceased Hilde. Hilde was born June 24, 1925 and raised in Germany. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and son in 1957. Hilde settled with her family in Leader, Saskatchewan in 1964 and this became her home until her husband's passing. Hilde enjoyed her community, friends and work at the Leader library. Due to her Alzheimer's, Hilde moved to Medicine Hat and resided at South Country Village under the excellent care of the staff in the Sunny View unit and the Heritage Day Program. It was truly a blessing that despite her illness, Hilde's unique sense of humor and her gentle nature remained with her until the very end. Hilde was a simple woman in all the best connotations of the word. She was straightforward, direct, sincere, and lacking in deceitfulness. She cherished and enjoyed all of life's simplest pleasures; sunsets and snowfalls, a cup of tea with a neighbor or friend, a taste of good chocolate, singing to her granddaughters, a letter from a loved one, listening to CBC radio, and many quiet moments spent with a good book. With her love of life's simple offerings she desired to share her perspective with others in very simple ways; teaching a yoga and German cooking class, being the first mom to swim in the town pool and ride a bicycle about Leader. Welcoming new families, taking in birds with broken wings, and offering a gentle touch and a listening ear to whoever was in need. Hilde's simple nature and her quiet, patient, and loving spirit will be missed and fondly remembered by all. " So many people aspire all their life to create the perfect moment and completely forget to live in the moment", Hilde recognized this and spent her life appreciating what many of us miss. As per Hilde's wishes, no formal funeral proceedings will take place. Anyone wishing to remember Hilde may do so with a charitable gift to the Leader Library, 151 - 1st St. W., Leader, Saskatchewan, S0N 1H0, where for many years she was affectionately known as Mrs. Library.
