Mr. Clarence Frederick Mauch, beloved husband of Helen, passed away at the Sunnyview Care Centre at the age of 73 years, with his family by his side. Clarence leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Monica Smith (Sam Thornhill) and Roxana (Jerry) Lachapelle; one son, Zachary Mauch (Sandy Traichel); seven grandchildren, Nick, Andrea and their father David Smith, Safira, Alyssa and Richard Lachapelle, Cameron and Landon Mauch along with their mother Michelle Kiefer, all of Medicine Hat. He is also survived by one sister, Amanda (Ed) Hunt of Calgary; one brother, Ed (Lorraine) Mauch of Medicine Hat; one sister-in-law, Alice Mauch of Sparwood, B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gotthielf and Paulina Mauch; three brothers, Oscar, Albert and Herb; one sister, Emilia. Clarence was born and raised in the Hilda District. He lived his first 14 years there before moving to Medicine Hat and finishing his education at Alexandra School. In 1958, Clarence married Helen Abraham. Clarence and Helen moved to British Columbia where they raised their children on the West Coast. The family returned to Medicine Hat in 1978. It was often said that Clarence could operate the controls on heavy equipment like he was playing a piano. He belonged to the Operating Engineer's Union and was also proud to have been a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. Clarence always enjoyed a good card game and played often with his brother Eddy. Visiting family and friends was important to him. We were all entertained by his unique sense of humour. Clarence was a very kind-hearted man who loved and was loved by his family. The Service celebrating Clarence's life will be private for the family. Relatives and friends are invited to join with the family in a time of fellowship and refreshments in the Wuerfel Auditorium at South Country Village, 1720 Bell Street S.W., on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 12:00 P.M. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 833a Kingsway Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2X5.
