Ed Alfred Sulz passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the age of 83 years. He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Barry (Claudia) of Dunmore, AB. and Lorne of Kyle, SK.; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Sulz, sister, Marion Kerner and brother-in-law, Art Deering all from Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; parents, Fred and Lydia Sulz; two sisters, Leah Deering and Rose Flemmer; two sisters in infancy and brother-in-law, Walter Flemmer. Ed was born and raised on the family farm south of Irvine, AB., and moved to Medicine Hat in October of 1952. Throughout his working career, he was employed by Medicine Hat Brick and Tile, Dempster Farm Equipment, Dempster Shell Canada Ltd., and Joyline Transport. He owned and operated Hyde’s Saw Sharpening for four years, before gaining employment with the City of Medicine Hat as custodian at the Strathcona Center, retiring in 1987. In accordance with honouring Ed’s wishes, a Private time of remembrance will be held. The family would like to thank all of the Doctors, nurses, and staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, and especially the staff at the Haven Care Center and The Teoda Lodge for the excellent care and compassion provided to Ed since 2006. A special thank you to the staff at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel for their care and support through the time of our loss. As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to remember Ed may do so with a gift to the charity of one’s choice.
