Mrs. Evelyn Redekop passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at the Good Samaritans on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the age of 94 years. Evelyn was born on December 4, 1915, and raised in Glen Kerr, SK., where she grew up on the family farm. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Dave. They farmed in the Glen Kerr area and moved to Coaldale for two years. In 1957, they relocated to a farm near Seven Persons, where they farmed for the next 23 years. Evelyn was a hard working farm wife who accompanied Dave with most of the farm chores as they worked together as a team. In 1980, they moved to the Medicine Hat, where they became accustomed to ‘city life’. They enjoyed bowling, playing cards, travelling to the States with their motorhome, and treasured their wide circle of friends. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also loved to bake and try new recipes. Family and friends were always treated to home made baking, especially fresh bread and cinnamon buns. Evelyn liked to sing and enjoyed listening to and watching the music shows on TV. She would always tell us she was getting “Too old to cut the mustard” - one of her favorite songs. Sunday was church day for Evelyn and she always looked forward to going for lunch with family after the service. She was a gentle, kind and loving person who always held her family close in her heart. A special thank-you to the caring staff at the Good Samaritans for the excellent care and kindness she received. Evelyn will be dearly missed by all, but will be loved forever in the hearts and minds of her children, Barbara (Marvin)?Stuber and Bob (Yoka) Redekop; grandchildren, Carol (Michael) Dell, Warren (Sandra) Jans, Nicole Redekop, Tara (Jason); great-grandchildren, Vanessa, April, Rebecca, Bradley, Lisa, Tracy, Carla; great-great-granddaughter, Taylor-Ann; sisters-in-law, Anne (Jake)?Thiessen and Beth Keiling as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
