Mrs. Nettie Toth, beloved wife of the late Steve Toth of Bow Island, Alberta, formerly of Wakaw, Sk., passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at the age of 96 years. Nettie leaves to cherish her memory one son, Ernie (Stella) Toth of Medicine Hat; granddaughter, Lisa (Tim) Houle and their children, Andrew and Madison of Coldstream, B.C.; grandson, Alan (Diane) Toth and their children, Jordan and Dawson of Calgary; grandson, Aaron (Marla) Toth and their children, Nicole and Morgan of Okotoks, AB.; brother, Sam (Sophie) Feschuk of Wakaw, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her husband Steve on August 12, 2005; parents, John and Paranka Feschuk in 1968; sisters, Tillie Ostapchuk in 1956 and Stella Wawryk in 2003; brother, Bill Feschuk in 1972. Nettie was born on April 11, 1911 in Peraspa, Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings, Tillie, Bill and Stella in 1923. They settled on a farm approximately 7 miles NW of Wakaw in the Sokol District. Nettie attended school in the Ukraine and then in Canada at Minatinas, West of Wakaw. On October 12, 1936, Nettie and Steve were married at Wakaw, SK. They retired from farming in 1969, but continued as janitors at the Wakaw Elementary School until they fully retired in 1973. Mom and Dad moved to Medicine Hat in September of 2004, living at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged. In spring of 2005, they became residents of the extended care at the Bow Island Health Centre. While living in Wakaw, Mom enjoyed gardening in her vegetable garden and her flower garden; but especially in her flower garden which was always her pride and joy. She loved to travel, having been to the Southern USA and to B.C. Mom was a devout Catholic, having been a member of the Ukraine Catholic Church and choir, as well as a lifetime member of the C.W.L at St. Theresa's Parish in Wakaw. She loved company, cooking and entertaining. In her early years, she often hosted many get-togethers with family and friends. "We will miss you dearly mom" Nettie's family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph's Home in Medicine Hat as well as those at the Bow Island Health Centre for the wonderful care provided for Mom and Dad. The celebration of Nettie's life was held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Saturday, December 8, 2007, with Father Fred Monk officiating. Interment will follow in Wakaw, SK., at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Bow Island Health Centre, Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta, T0K 0G0.
