It is with sadness that the family of the late Walter 'Skip' Wilkinson announce his passing on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the age of 60 years. He leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Tana; daughter, Tammy (Blaine) Mitchell and their son Alex; son, Tony (Amanda) Wilkinson; mother, Pat Vacheresse; brothers, Gary (Brenda) Wilkinson, Timmy (Anne) Wilkinson, Rick (Avis) Vacheresse, as well as one sister, Carol (Gordon) Sheriff. Walter, better known as 'Skip', was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. During his working years he spent time as a Coal Miner in Glace Bay, NS., and after moving out to Alberta he worked in the oil patch with Champion Drilling. Skip was a funny man and always enjoyed a good joke or two. He enjoyed a beer and a good time with his good friends at the Royal, especially on Saturday afternoons listening to the 'Jam' session. Skip was especially proud of his children and tried to spend what time he could with them. His pride and joy was 'Papa's Boy' Alex, his grandson. Skip was predeceased by his father Harold Wilkinson, and father, Gordon Vacheresse; two brothers, Allan Wilkinson and Dennis Vacheresse. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so during a time of visitation on Friday, May 23, 2008 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901-13th Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta. A Celebration of Skip's life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz, officiating. If friends so desire, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 Crestwood Square One, 1865 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8.
