Obituary - Howard Fode

Howard Fode

1940 - 2006

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Fode(2006)

Mr. Howard Lawrence Fode, beloved husband of Mrs. Jeannette Fode of Redcliff, peacefully passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the age of 66 years. Howard was born on May 25, 1940 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. In1967 he met his future wife, Jeannette. They embraced each others families and blended together to form a solid family which included 7 children. For many years he worked as a heavy equipment operator and found himself in control of 'Ukes and Cat's'. He later gained employment with the City of Medicine Hat working in the Gas & Utility department for 23 years before his retirement in 2002. Those who knew Howard will remember him as a patient but stubborn fellow. He loved tinkering in the garage and would sooner build something than buy it. He enjoyed the great outdoors as he was an avid hunter and fisherman in his day. Very special to him was his faithful dog, Lucky. Since April of this year, Howard had resided at the River View Care Centre, and not a day went by that Lucky didn't go to see his master. Also very special to him are his family who are left to cherish his memory: his wife, Jeannette; his children: John (Annette) Engel, Kelly (Donna) Engel, CheréScott) Brown, Rick (Barb) Fode, Vicky (Frank) Allen, Rick (Michelle) Engel and Wendell (Brenda) Fode; grandchildren, Ashley and Sean; Tiffany (Jaret) and Andreà Terra (Jared) and Krista; Brendon, Blaine and Rae-Lynn; Justin (Kristen), Jordan (Crystal) and Jennessa; great-grandchildren, Carson, Dreyden and Kaidyn; a sister, Delores (Don) Bischke; 4 brothers, Robert Fode, Lloyd (Marcy) Jans, Jim (Carol) Fode and Dennis Fode as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Irene; a daughter, Tammy Fode and a granddaughter, Rachelle. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, October 6, 2006 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Captain Brad Oxford of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will follow in the Redcliff Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 121, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 7E8.
