It is with sorrowful hearts that our family announces the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan Dianne Mackenzie Taylor passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the age of 75 years. Left to lovingly remember her are her children and their families: Bernard Kobelsky, Clint Kobelsky, Melissa (Kelly) Bell, Brandy (John) Taylor; grandchildren, Chantel (Austin), Sabrina (Obee), Byron, Samantha, Cass, Myla, Dawson, Alyssa, Cory (Paige), Kayden, Wyatt, Rebecca (Benji), Gavin, Alex (Harlen) and Lelin; great-grandchildren, Jayce, Kegan, Havanna, Haylie and two more on the way. She is also survived by her siblings: Bob Hamilton, David Hamilton, Jim (Jan) Hamilton, Pat Smilie, Tony Hamilton and Steven Hamilton. She was predeceased by her loving husbands, Leonard and Blake; her parents, Campbell and Marjorie Hamilton as well as a brother, Ken Hamilton. Joan was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK., residing there up to her Grade 10 year in high school. She lived throughout Western Canada before settling in The Pas, MB., where she raised her four children before finally settling in Medicine Hat. In July of 1972, Joan was married to her first husband Leonard Kobelsky, re-marrying in August of 1981 to Blake Taylor. In her younger years, she worked in various fields including child care, commercial janitorial services and acting as a head cook at various facilities. Joan was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a master of her craft when it came to cooking and baking, but her greatest passion was her family. Joan loved spending time with her loved ones, celebrating with both immediate and extended family. She was a soft-hearted, caring and sweet natured woman with a strong faith in God. Joan was a beautiful soul and was loved by many. A time of remembrance will be held at a future date. Memorial donations in Joan’s memory may be made directly to Diabetes Canada, 1000 -170 University Avenue, Toronto, ON., M5H 3B3.

So sorry to hear about Joan’s passing. We worked together at KCC in The Pas for several years. She was one of the hardest workers I knew. She always had a smile on her face and remained cheerful under any circumstances. We reconnected a few years ago and I will miss hearing from my friend. Deepest condolences to the family.
