April 8, 1974 ~ December 11, 2025
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Jason David Mellor announce his unexpected passing in Victoria, B.C. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 51 years. Left with beautiful memories are his mother, Sharon Mellor; sister, Nikki (Fabian) Huber and their daughters, Taylor and Eastynn as well as numerous aunties, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, David Mellor as well as his grandparents, Samuel Mellor, Sarah Mellor, Alex Chisholm and Kathleen (Nikki) Chisholm.
Jason lived a vibrant, expressive life filled with love, creativity and connection. He spent most of his life in Medicine Hat, Calgary and also embraced time living abroad in Birmingham, England—each place shaping the free spirit he so naturally embodied. Jason attended St. Michael’s and St. Thomas Elementary School, then St. Mary’s Junior High before finishing at McCoy High School. He then pursued his post-secondary education at Marvel Beauty School. Hairdressing was more than a career for Jason; it was an art form. He spent the majority of his working years as a hairstylist, expressing his love of fashion and creativity and proudly entered numerous hair competitions earning admiration for his talent and bold style.
Above all else, Jason was the epitome of a mama’s boy. His love for his family was unwavering and he often said that his nieces were his greatest inspiration. Family meant everything to Jason and nowhere was that more evident than during Christmas, especially the cherished Chisholm Christmases which held a special place in his heart.
Jason was a free spirit in every sense: the centre of attention, full of life, generous to his core and always ready to uplift others. His adventurous nature took him travelling across Canada, England and beyond, including memorable journeys to China, Thailand, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. No matter where he went, Jason left an impression—often dancing through life with joy, confidence and authenticity. His light, laughter and spirit will be dearly missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him. “Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the BS, take chances and never have regrets, because at one point, everything you did was exactly what you wanted."
A Celebration of Jason’s life will be held at Reflections, 937 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Jason’s name may be made directly to Medicine Hat Adaptive Sports & Recreation, 321 - 3271 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1B 3R2.

I want to offer my deepest condolences to Jason’s beloved mother, Sharon; his sister Nikki and her husband Fabion; their daughters, Eastynn and Taylor; and to his entire family and the many friends who loved him so deeply.
Jason had a rare and beautiful spirit. His love for music, his incredible talent, and his passion for hairdressing weren’t just skills—they were extensions of who he was. He created, he expressed, and he made people feel seen. Wherever Jason went, he brought light, laughter, and unmistakable energy with him.
Jason was my best friend, my chosen family, my constant through life. There was no one like him, and there never will be. I will forever miss this gem of a human, and I will carry him with me always.
Rest easy, my love. Your light doesn’t end here.

Ohhh Jason what can I say that so many other people haven't already said. You were an inspiration to many and loved by everyone. You lit up a room when you came into it. You cut my hair and told stories. You will never be gone from our lives just now you have angel wings. Guide your family and friends as this is a time of sorrow for your loved ones. We will never forget you.

My condolences to the Mellor family, close friends and extended family. Jason was an amazing, talented young man with such a generous heart. I have known him and the Mellor family since elementary school. While we did not keep in close contact after high school, I will always look back at our times together with very fond memories. He helped to shape me into the person I am today. For that, I am grateful. Rest in peace, sweet angel! You are loved!

I met Jason in Jr. High and was so in awe of his presence. I’ll never forget him in his suit at our school dance, the most striking blonde boy with incredible energy! It is no doubt he captured the hearts of all who knew him. My own heart goes out to Jason's family, friends and all who treasured this amazing man and the grief left behind through his passing. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

I worked with Jason and he was so fun and creative, such a sweet man. I’m so sorry for his families loss. I remember him talking about how much he cared for his mom and sister and her kids. He also spoke of how much he missed his dad. I’m sure all the angels up there have their hair a touch more beautiful since Jason arrived. Rest in peace Jason.

I met Jason many years ago through the fashion industry. I had the pleasure of working with him doing makeup for hairshows.
He was so incredibly talented with hair and an inspiration to many. I enjoyed the years of laughter and professional events.
He was a wonderful soul and myself and many others will miss him dearly.
