Mrs. Ella Ruth Van Maarion, beloved wife of the late Jack Van Maarion, passed away at Medicine Hat Care Community on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 91 years. Left to honour Ella’s memory are her sons, Craig and Todd; grandchildren, Cory, Tia and Teagan; sisters, Bernice Gyorkos and Eve (Dave) Knock as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Jack, Ella was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Natalie and her grandsons, Brandon (in infancy) and Michael. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers on the third floor of Medicine Hat Care Community for the care they provided to Ella during her time there.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so beginning one hour prior to the Celebration of Ella’s life which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. Private interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with fellowship to follow thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.

Wendy and I are sorry that we cannot be with you as you celebrate the life of your mother. We were very saddened to hear of Auntie Ella’s passing; she will be missed by all. We will remember her strength, love of life on the farm and her deep devotion to her family. Please accept our sincere condolences on her passing. Rest in Peace Auntie Ella; now reunited Uncle Jack.
