It is with a heavy heart that Andrew announces the unexpected passing of his loving wife, Brenda Lee Tokamp. She passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 63 years.
Along with Andrew, left to cherish Brenda’s memory are her three children and their families: Crystal (Scott) Watson and their children, Emma and Ian; Randy (Michelle) and their children, Linkin and Kingston; Chad (Tamika) and his children, Hailey, Tryton, Kaci and Nixon; seven siblings, Mike (Sheila) Drescher, Debbie (Rod) Lippert, Sherry Nivens, Dennis (Lori) Drescher, Greg (Terry) Drescher, Bonnie (Gabe) Graham and Jason Drescher; mother-in-law, Zonia Tokamp; Andrew’s brothers, Ted (Donna) Tokamp, Barry (Lori) Tokamp, Bob Tokamp and Wayne (Sylvia) Tokamp as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Margaret Drescher and her father-in-law, John Tokamp.
Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Brenda spent her entire life in the community she loved. She had a passion for the simple joys in life—camping under the stars, spontaneous shopping trips (especially across the border in the U.S.), and her famous adventures to Las Vegas. Brenda had a talent for crafting and was especially known for making sarcastic and humorous T-shirts that brought laughter to those around her. Her love of coupons was legendary and she took great pride in finding the best deals during her shopping sprees.
Above all, Brenda’s heart belonged to her family. She deeply loved and cherished her eight grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her home was always shared with her beloved pets—Cocoa, Honey, and Dexter—who were constant companions and treasured members of the family.
Brenda’s spirit, sense of humour, and loving presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a reception thereafter at Reflections. Brenda’s service will be live-streamed. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so by visiting the Cook Southland website and selecting the View Broadcast button on the homepage at service time.

I am so sorry for your loss. No words can be said to make it feel any better. Where there is sadness there was so much love! I am glad I got to share many happy memories with my Aunty Brenda, as well as my cousins growing up. I always loved her sense of humour and her bragging rights for her thrifty deals. Especially her purses. :)
I will be unable to attend the Celebration of life, but I will be there in my heart and spirit and I might be able to watch from afar.
Hugs, thoughts and love to everyone!

I was just looking through old Elmstreet School pictures and Brenda was in my grade 1,3,4 and 5 classes. Chad if you want to see them get a hold of Trent, me or any family. Wear a shirt pocket and hold Brenda's memory close to your hearts.
