February 24, 1936 ~ April 5, 2025
Mr. Francis Roy Fels passed away at AgeCare Riverview in Medicine Hat on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 89 years.
Francis was born in Neutral Hills, Alberta, which is located southeast of Red Deer and northeast of Calgary. He came from a big family of 11 children, of which he was the youngest of the boys. Francis has three boys, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a foreman in the British Columbia coal mines and a plumber who worked for the Air Force in Cold Lake, employed as a civilian. It was at this time that Francis lived on a farm. He owned all the usual farmyard animals but one who stood out over the years was a horse that came when you called her, ‘Here Trixie!” Francis made homes across the country including Bonnyville, Kamloops, Hilda, Winnifred, Bow Island and Medicine Hat before residing at Riverview. He was an outdoor man, who enjoyed adventures including fishing and camping in his motorhome. He also worked on cars needing constant repair. Francis spent many a time in the bingo hall and used his winnings to purchase his first Chihuahua which started his dog raising adventure. Francis was a quiet man and could be found at the curling rink in the winter or playing Crib. He was a kind hearted man who was soft spoken and wouldn’t turn away any friends.
Dignified cremation has taken place. A private family time of remembrance will be held.

My Condolences to Ron and Your Family,
I only knew your Dad after meeting him at Age Care.
I always tried to take a few minutes to stop and say hello to Francis while visiting my Mom.
May all your wonderful memories help through this time.
