1959 - 2025

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Raine(2025)

John James William Raine passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 65 years.

He was born on May 26, 1959, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. In 1967, his family immigrated to Canada, first to Kingston, Ontario, before moving to Amherstview, Ontario.

Johnny joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a teenager, where he went on to have a successful career as an Air Frame Technician, earning achievement awards and letters of appreciation for excellence in performance. He had the privilege of traveling extensively during his career, living and working at CFB Baden-Soellingen, West Germany (where he enjoyed 4 years of playing the trumpet and flugelhorn as a member of the Baden Rube Band), CFB Comox BC and CFB Shearwater NS.

Upon leaving the military at rank of Master Corporal, Johnny moved to Medicine Hat where he lived until tragically passing away on March 16, 2025.

Johnny was recently predeceased by his father, John Raine Sr.

Johnny will be forever missed by his mother, Joan Gray (late Gary) and by his sister, Angela O'Neil (Aaron). He will be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Andrew (Rachel) O'Neil (and their children, Braelynn and Bria) and Zachary (Mariah) O'Neil (and their children Nina and Reggie) as well as his Aunty Trish of BC, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends from around the world.

A Graveside Service honouring John’s life was held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Murray officiating, followed by a celebration in September. Johnny's family will be forever grateful for the support and friendship they received during their time in Medicine Hat.
