Marilyn Louise (Sewall) Burk of Medicine Hat reached the end of the trail on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Marilyn was born in Calgary, AB., on November 24, 1937, the eldest of five children to Jock and Louise Sewall. She shared her fondest memories as growing up on ranches in the Jenner, Tilley, and Brooks areas. Marilyn loved playing the piano which she learned at St. Theresa Academy in Medicine Hat. She boarded at the “Convent” when there weren’t local schools available near the ranch. Marilyn graduated from high school in Brooks, AB., before going into nurses training in Medicine Hat. She married Everett Burk in 1958, and together they raised their loving family primarily in the Medicine Hat area. Marilyn cared deeply for her family and was a friend to everyone she met. She was a gifted and passionate artist, specializing in Western bronze sculpture with some of her work featured in the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Cochrane, Alberta. She loved horses and the Western way of life. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Everett; children, Kelly (Don) Kuz, Bill (Caron) Burk and Tom (Willow) Burk; grandchildren, Scott (Dawn) Kuz, Erin (Lane) Flaten, Emily (Katie) DeLucia-Burk and Ethan Burk as well as great-grandchildren, Cash, Ryatt, Landen, Rowen and Brielle. She is also survived by her siblings, Donna (Gailen) Neville, Susan (late Tony) Minor, Cliff (late Joyce) Sewall as well as Ian (Betty) Sewall. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents as well as two grandsons, Grant and Jon. A private celebration honouring Marilyn’s life has taken place.

My sincere condolences to your family. As a condo neighbor to Marilyn, she was a pleasure to talk with on her many walks.
Such a lovely lady who always enjoyed seeing my young grandchildren. She often reminded me to just call them if I ever needed help with anything.
She will certainly be missed around the condo. We were blessed to know her.

Saddened to hear of Marilyn's passing. So enjoyed her and Everett's participation and support at Longfellow Community Hall. Marilyn was always so warm and welcoming in her home, I so enjoyed any visits we had. A wise, graceful, and very artistic lady.
