It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the passing of our Dad, Pete Hoeppner. He passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Southridge Village in Medicine Hat on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 98 years. Dad’s memory will always be cherished in the hearts of his children, Cathy (Rick) Jensen, Peter Hoeppner, Ken Hoeppner, Larry (Roxanne) Hoeppner and Betty (Lloyd) Guckert; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Falone, Jocelyn & Rylan; David (Kayla) Kyle & Ethan; Colleen (Jordan) Zelly & Hattie; Jolene (Matt) Stella; Kimberly (Ben) Gabe; and Monica (Kyle) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Mary as well as his son-in-law, Rick Jensen. Dad loved his family and always looked forward to our visits. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing from dawn to dusk. No matter where Dad went, he always made friends. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart as he always made time for them. We know he is with Mom and their heavenly Father. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. We would like to thank the staff at Good Sam’s for the care that they gave our Dad. A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 -13 Street S.W., on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Deibert officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Our deepest condolences are with you as you grieve the loss of your father “Pete”
Our earliest memories of your parents were back in 1960 when my Mother, Elma Buss built her home on McKenzie Crescent, and your home was just a few doors away. Mom and others often had Bible studies at your home. She was always so grateful for their hospitality and love of the Lord, and knowledge of the scriptures.
Both of your parents were so kind. And loving, people were drawn to them, and ultimately to our saviour, because of their graciousness. You have a great heritage
We pray for Gods deep comfort during these difficult days.
    Sincerely
    Wayne (and Grace) Buss

As fellow members of Hillcrest Church, we appreciated his remarkable service. The present church foundation was courtesy Peter and other skilled volunteers. This was followed up by 50 years as an usher there.

Upon moving to Medicine Hat 30 years ago and visiting various churches looking for a home church, Pete not only greeted this visitor but proudly took the time to show me every room of Hillcrest and largely due to that, we found our home. From then on, every Sunday, he and Mary would greet us as they were likely the first ones there.

My sympathies to you as a family. Peter and Mary were so faithful to Hillcrest Church over the years. They good friends to Ed and I and we enjoyed serving with them at church and visiting with them whenever we would get together. They both have a special place in my heart.
