Obituary - Jeff Gold

Jeff Gold

1971 - 2023

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Gold(2023) "Goldie"

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend, Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Gold. Jeff passed away while surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 51 years. Jeff was born and raised in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1971. Medicine Hat became his home and this is also where he was the co-owner of Ag-Plus Mechanical and where he married Kyndra on June 19, 1999. As many know, Jeff could very easily be described as the “life of the party’... his lively energy always brightened up a room. He loved to entertain guests and cook food for others on one of his many outdoor smokers. He didn’t just entertain with food and beverage - he could also make people laugh with quick wit and by showing off his very best dance moves! Jeff had a huge passion for hockey; whether watching, playing or cheering on his kids. He also loved a round of golf with his buddies, hiking, snowshoeing and paddleboarding. Above all, Jeff loved his family more than anything. He had a genuinely kind and caring attitude and those are the qualities that will be deeply missed. Jeff’s memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, Kyndra; three children, Heather (Chris) Mackey and their son, Zion, Taylor Gold (Jordan Kroeger) and Tanner Gold; siblings, Jane (Dave) Klug, Donna Rodin, Janet (Ken) Dillabaugh, Jim Gold (Susan Birnie), Debbie Christian, Barb Gold, Marcie Holderness, Wayne (Susan) Burton and Garry (Shona) Burton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Vera Gold and Marlene and Sots Burton; siblings, Bruce Gold, Bobby Gold and Judy Gee; a nephew, Jarrod Rodin and a niece, Ireland Rodin. A Celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at the Cypress Centre, 2055 - 21 Ave. S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Private burial will take place prior to the service.

Our deepest condolences from our family to yours. When we heard the news of his passing, our hearts sank with disbelief and extreme sadness.
But we quickly remembered our fondest memories of our son, Austin playing hockey with a Taylor (novice and Atom) and the tournaments and the infamous hockey parties. Jeff was always the most positive happy encouraging guy on and off the ice and just wonderful to be in his company. We have been gone from Medicine Hat for over 15 years but remember Jeff and the wonderful memories we shared in those years we lived there. So glad we got to spend those early years at the rink with your family. They will be treasured. He is gone but not forgotten.

My deepest condolences to Kyndra and family. I first met Goldie in the 90's and still remember all the laughter and fun times at the house on Cuyler Rd and Carry Drive. Goldie was one of a kind and I never seen him mad. Even though we lost touch, I can still visualize that smile. You will be missed my friend.

To Jeff's family, I extend my most sincere condolences; I was very sad to hear this news.
I wanted to share a quick story with the hope that it warms your heart as it does mine: Jeff and I went to school together from grade 4 to high school graduation, and although we did not stay in touch beyond school, he will always hold a special place in my heart because of his terrific spirit, but especially for the kindness he showed me (a young, shy and sensitive soul at the time) when we were both in Mrs. Cole's grade five class at Sydney Street School. After I accidentally broke a glass bottle in the classroom, Jeff was the first to extend a hand and some kind and comforting words. It seems like a silly story because it was such a small act of kindness, but it's one I remember to this day (41 years later) and have shared with my students (grades four and five) to demonstrate how small acts of kindness can have have long-lasting impact. Our class believes in spreading positive ripples, and in reading the condolences posted here, it seems clear that Jeff continued to do so throughout his lifetime. I intend to continue sharing this story with my classes over the years and can promise that his small act will continue to spread positive ripples beyond his lifetime.
    Take great care.
    K

I was previously a rep for one of the Ag Plus suppliers and was saddened to just recently hear of Jeff's passing.
Jeff was a big part of one of the best dealers I dealt with across Western Canada.
My most sincere condolences go out to his family, the staff at Ag Plus and to the large group of people like myself who had any interaction with Jeff and were left better because of it.
