Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Prosofsky(2022) "Big Joe"

The family of Joel Peter Prosofsky are heartbroken to announce his sudden passing after a second but brief battle with cancer. Joe is survived by Doris, his beloved wife of 50 years, and their two sons, Chris (Colette) and their two children, Calynne and Callen and Tyler (Jocelyne) and their children Jack, Grace and Julia. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jean; sisters, Jan and Joy (Garry); Doris’ parents, Rachel and Art Hornung and sisters-in-law, Louise and Elaine. Big Joe and Doris got married in Medicine Hat in 1972 and raised their two boys here. When he wasn’t busy working at Safeway as a meat cutter, Joe spent all of his time running the boys around to all of their sporting events. Camping and fishing were his favourite pastimes as he loved to take the little ones fishing any chance he could to pass along his knowledge. Big Joe also cherished all of his trips with Doris, family and friends to various destinations. Nothing made Big Joe smile more than spending time with his grandchildren. “Rest in peace Grandpa Joe. We love you and we will miss you!!” A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, give bear hugs to those you love; or donate to the Ronald McDonald House, 569 - 4 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 4G2, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Family gatherings won’t be the same without the big hugs from Uncle Joe. From the first time I met ‘Big Joe’ he grabbed a piece of my heart and we always shared a smile and hug each time we saw each other. He would say ‘There’s my girl’. You will be missed by many but give the family hugs from us when they greet you at those pearly gates. Love and Hugs to Aunty Doris, Chris, Tyler and their families at this difficult time. Rest Easy Big Joe Love, Lesa
