November 4, 1925 ~ November 6, 2021
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Florence Selma Stenerson announce her peaceful passing in Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the age of 96 years. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her eight children: Shirley (James) Stenerson, Darlene Mitchell, Barbara Shaw, Larry (Sandra) Stenerson, Esther (Terry) Meidinger, Brian (Cathy) Stenerson, Wade (Mona) Stenerson and Sherri (Lonny) Aberle; 22 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Grace) Laminski, Christopher (Jodi) Laminski, Jill (Paul) Breker, Evan (Michelle) Breker; Jennifer Mitchell, Michelle Mitchell; Jamie (Jared) Shaw, Colin (Natalie) Shaw; Ashley Stenerson, Taylor Stenerson; Brennan (Rebecca) Meidinger; Katrina (Benjamin) Ronson, Alyssa Stenerson, Shelby (Landon) Stenerson; Colton (Amanda) Stenerson, Janessa Stenerson, Brett Stenerson; Shanese (Dylan) Mielke, Brenden (Caitlin) Fehr, Beau Fehr; Joshua Aberle, Tyler Aberle as well as 16 great-grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Walter; parents, Lydia and Louis Schopf; daughter, Debbie; great-grandson, Owen Breker, ten siblings, Frieda, George, Emma, Tony, Emily, Lewis, Frank, Henrietta, Albert and Margaret as well as her daughter-in-law, Colleen Stenerson (nee Milligan). Florence was lovingly known to many as Gram. Family and friends were everything to her. She loved being surrounded by people and there was always room for one more at her table. Raising eight children on her own required endless patience, inner strength and selflessness. Florence taught her family that happiness is not found in riches but measured in hugs, laughter and love. Florence was renowned for her mischievous spirit, love of games… and her cinnamon buns. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Wellington Retirement Residence for their care and compassion. So many will mourn Florence’s passing as she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbour and friend. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

I'm sorry to hear the passing of Florence. I am so glad to have known her. She made every day that I had with her special in one way or another. I still speak of the day she offered to give me her dog. I'm going to miss her lots. I'm so sorry for your loss.
