The family of Richard Evan Vas announce his passing at the Cardston Health Centre on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the age of 61 years. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Kristina, Steven and Allison Vas; four sisters, Deborah Anne, Shirley Kaye, Jackie Lee and Gerri Lynn and a wealth of nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Jr. and Clara Marie Vas as well as his brother, Anthony ‘Tony’ Vas. Richard was raised on a farm located east of Wrentham, AB. He worked as a mechanic and was proud of his Red Seal Mechanic’s licence. Richard was a musical genius and began playing instruments at the age of four years old. His evenings and weekends were spent on stage performing with many different bands. A private time of remembrance will be held.
Very sorry to hear of the death of Richard. I had the great pleasure of sharing the stage with him in our old band, “Axel & the Wheels” back in the late 70s, and have many fond memories of our playing the local Lethbridge bars as well as our gigs on the road, both with our band and with the late George Moody, traveling the length and breadth of Alberta and BC. He was a fine player, and passionate about his craft. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, old buddy.
Truly saddened by this news. Dick was a good friend for a short time, when we played together. Had a great sense of humour I recall. Condolences to his family.
