IN LOVING MEMORY

With heavy hearts we set you free...

Rodney Lee Bailey was born on June 5, 1960, in Englehart, Ontario and passed away unexpectedly in Medicine Hat on Monday, June 14, 2021, at the age of 61 years.

This is not good-bye, but see you again someday on the otherside. Gone too soon and unexpectedly, Rod will be remembered and missed dearly by his family and the many people who have been in his life over the years. His infectious laugh and his big smile under his signature moustache will be missed most of all but will never be forgotten. Rod loved his family most of all, but he also loved to be outside and work hard everyday of his life. Rig life was the only life he knew outside of his family. A man of few words but wisdom and knowledge beyond what most will ever know. He passed down a lot of that knowledge to every person he worked with and trained over the 45 years of working in the oilfeild. Rod took pride in his job and safety was very important; there are years worth of safety awards to prove it. He loved camping out at Elkwater and Reesor Lake, walking along the creeks and paths and just being out in nature in general. Rod would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and always wanted to take care of those he loved. He loved his family who he always provided and worked hard for until the very end. Rod’s life wasn’t always easy and perfect but he found joy in the little things, like beautiful sunsets and sunrises or clear blue skies, silence and a hard days work. Being a grandpa was one of his favorite things in life. He loved spending time with his grandaughters Airianna, Brinley, and Cambrie. Grandpa was always playing, making them laugh and giggle and they loved watering the garden and picking strawberries together.

Rod leaves behind to carry on his memory his wife, "The old lady" of over 26 years, Sharon Aram; son, Derek Bailey; daughter, Danielle Greenaway and son, Nathan Greenaway; granddaughters, Airianna, Brinley and Cambrie Greenaway as well as his sisters, Kathy and Gail Bailey. Rod was predeceased by his father, Ronald Bailey and mother Betty Bailey both of Englehart, Ontario as well as his younger brother, Mark Bailey also of Englehart, Ontario.

Rod Bailey "The Legend" will live on always in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

We love you more then you will ever know!

A private time of remembrance will be held by his family to honour Rod’s life.

    Dear Sharon and Family,
My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. I always had a soft spot in my heart for Rod. He treated me with respect, always had his paper work in on time for payroll and I knew everything was efficiently recorded, with lovely penmanship. Rod would be considered the “best” Rig Manager that worked at Millards. May he Rest In Peace.

Dear Sharon & family: I’m so sad for you all that Rod passed away. He was a very favorite co-worker of mine for many years. Easy to share a laugh with, cooperative, and appreciative of any little thing you might help out with. One of the smartest and hardest working people I ever known. Blessings to you all during this sad time.

Heartfelt felt sympathy Sharon and family; I just heard about Rod's passing. Richie and I spent many special times with Ronnie and family in happier times. Rod was so cute and funny. I’ve been wondering about him; sent a message after Richie passed but it was returned, wrong address?? Your obituary is right on... he was a special man. Cherish all the special memories. Thinking of you with love ♥️🙏♥️ Would like to keep in touch.
