Jacquelene (Jackie) Lenore MacIntyre passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice on Wednesday, Jan 15th, 2014 at the age of 76. Jackie will be deeply missed by her children, Brenda (Al) Gabel and granddaughter, Nikita; Michael Charette, granddaughter, Leah and grandson, David; Pam (Paul) Ryckman, granddaughter, Brandi (Jason) Coakley and great-grandson, Branson; sisters, Eleanor (Ed), Grace (Steve), Linda (Rick), and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen Charette; mother, Ethelda; father, Jack; sister, Jean; and brothers, John and George. Jackie was born May 31st, 1937 in St. Thomas Ont. She raised her family in Ontario then moved to Medicine Hat in the 80’s. Jackie was a loving mother but her grandchildren meant the world to her and would always take first place before anyone or anything. Nikita was the lucky grandchild because she was here with her and got to spend all of her time with her grandma and make so many memories. Thank you to the family and good friends that got to visit and call during this time, it meant so much to her. Jackie was a giving person and loved to can and bake, and then share it with her family and friends. Although she had a feisty personality, her sense of humour and genuine heart made it easy for her to touch so many lives. For the brief time she was at St. Josephs Home - Carmel Hospice, she made some special memories with friends (staff), and they might want to consider a new Christmas tradition (oysters). The family extends their most heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff, they certainly made a difference. Those who knew Jackie knew she was a no muss or fuss kind of lady, so in her honour, a Come and Go Celebration will take place at the Heritage Centre, South Country Village, 1720 Bell Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 2:00p.m to 4:00p.m. Memorial donations in Jackie’s name may be made directly to the St. Joseph’s Home - Carmel Hospice, 156 - 3rd street N.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5M1.

We are sorry to hear about Jackie's passing. Jackie was a great friend of our mother, Jean Akers, when they lived in Maranatha and later at South Country. Jackie was very good to Mom and her and Mom had a lot of good times together. She had a heart of gold. Our deepest sympathy. Donna and Robinson and Paddy and Mel Harrison.

Brenda, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I remember you both equally funny and vibrant. I just found out today about your moms passing or I would have been there for the funeral. You were truly blessed with a remarkable Mother, she will always be remembered. Love ya!!

Jackie was mine and my sister's babysitter growing up in elementary school. I remember her always working on her crossword puzzles when I came home, and we used to always talk about her childhood - she had so many stories; I used to call her just to hear her tell stories as a kid. I am 27 now and I decided to call her a few times last summer to see how she was; she was so happy to hear my voice. She will be greatly Missed.
