Obituary - Christina Middleton

Christina Middleton

1921 - 2011

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Middleton(2011)

Ms. Christina “Chris” or “Chrissy” Middleton passed away quietly on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the age of 89 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, Jim (Doreen) Middleton and their sons, Scott of Medicine Hat and Brent Middleton (fiance Melissa Wakeham) of Calgary; special friend Debbie Vass (Wesley Dennis) and her little puppies, “R.D.” and “K.D.” who made weekly visits. Christina was born in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, July 4, 1921 and immigrated to Canada in 1922 after her mother passed away who was adopted in 1928 by her Aunt Lillian and Uncle Charles Middleton of Medicine Hat. Chris was predeceased by her parents; sister, Ruby (1985), and brother, John (1990). Chris was employed as a secretary by Ogilvies National Fruit and the Government of Canada before joining the Navy in World War II in 1942, serving as a Wren stationed in Galt, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Victoria until 1944. Following her discharge, Chris continued working as a secretary for the Defense Research Station in Ralston until her retirement in 1976. With her declining health, mainly due to a lack of mobility saw her as a resident in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Auxiliary wing from 1981 to 1991, then moved into the Cypress View Lodge until the end of January 2011, when she was hospitalized and recently moved into Riverview Care Centre. Chris enjoyed and was a pro at crossword puzzles. She always had a friendly smile and was very appreciative of visits from family and friends. Her love for animals was obvious by the various photos, framed wall pictures, animal calendars, stuffed animals, ornaments, books as well as her scrapbooks of experiences including numerous cat and dog clippings, leaving “paw prints” in the hearts of everyone who knew Chris. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., Friday, March 25, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Canon Reverend Gene Packwood officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Chris name may be made directly to the Cypress View Foundation, 722 Bassett Cres. N.W. Medicine Hat, AB.
