Mrs. Daisy Elna Schwartz, beloved wife of the late Mr. Joseph Schwartz, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Daisy is survived by her children: Stan and his wife Shirley Schwartz of Calgary, Luella Amos of Medicine Hat, Esther Stang of Calgary and Noreen Schwartz of Medicine Hat. She is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia and companion Fred, Helen and husband Dale; three grandchildren, Ken Recoski and his wife Sherri, Karen Laing and Shawna Stang; two great-granddaughters, Natasha Laing and Shania Stang; two great-grandsons, Shawn Stang and Jaden Recoskie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Daisy was predeceased by her parents, Hans and Katie Jorgensen; son, Gordon Otto Schwartz; brothers, Gordon, Stanley and Herluf Jorgensen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jorgensen, Luella Weber; brothers-in-law, Howard Schwartz, Jack Schwartz, Gary Keown and son-in-law, Larry Stang. Daisy Elna Schwartz was born on August 8, 1920 in Sceptre, Saskatchewan and was the oldest daughter of Hans and Katie Jorgensen. Daisy left the Sceptre homestead in 1942 and moved to Medicine Hat. In 1943, Daisy Elna Jorgensen and Joseph Zeke Schwartz were married in Medicine Hat. They farmed in the Medicine Hat area from 1943 until 1949. They moved to the Brooks area where they farmed until 1954 when they returned to Medicine Hat. Daisy's family was the joy of her life. She loved to knit and watch her favorite sports team, the Calgary Stampeders. She will always be remembered for her humble and gentle nature. She supported her family in all their endeavors. Family and friends will sadly miss Daisy. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to service time at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W. Medicine Hat, Alberta, on Friday June 1, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Room 124 Professional Building, 430 - 6th Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2S8. The Schwartz family wish to thank the doctors and staff of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and the staff of The Valleyview for their exceptional care of Mom.
