Leslie Ross of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Anita Ross, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the age of 72 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Barb Ross (fiancéerry Clapper) and Rose Thayer of Medicine Hat, Kevin (Jennifer) Ross of Summerberry, Saskatchewan and Linda Van Renselaar of Brandon, Manitoba; eight grandchildren, Tanner and Trevor Ross of Summerberry; Sarah and Luke Van Renselaar of Brandon; Aaron Thayer of Edmonton; Crystal Thayer of Medicine Hat and Caitlan and Chelsea Doering of Medicine Hat. Les is also survived by one brother, Cecil Ross of Grand Cache and two sisters, Betty Jaap of Red Deer and Marie Laforge of Armstrong B.C as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his mother and father, Ruth and Bill Ross and three brothers, Richard, Ray and Mike. Les was born in Didsbury, Alberta on September 17, 1932, then moved with his parents to Manitoba where he grew up in various towns. In 1973, he met Anita and they were married in Winnipeg. They then moved to Okotoks and Calgary where Les worked as a heavy-duty mechanic. In 1977, the family moved to Medicine Hat where Les was employed as Shop Foreman for S&M Kenworth. When Kenworth shut down, the family elected to stay in Medicine Hat and Les opened his own business Viking Diesel & Truck Repair Ltd. He retired in 1997. Les enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, April 22, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. with the Very Reverend Father David Meadows officiating.
