Mr. Bernard K. (Ben) Wiebe of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Susan Wiebe, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the age of 86 years. Ben is the loving father of two children and their families: son, Hank (Marion) and their two children, Stephanie (James) Wood and their son Joshua; Gregory (Sharelle) Wiebe and their sons Connor and (Brendan~deceased); son, (Edward~deceased), and his children Kent (Lacey) and his three children, Jessie, Jordan (Katie) and Kevynn; Joanne and her daughter, Kelsey and great-granddaughter, Hayden; brother, Ike (Sally) Wiebe; sister, Helen Craddock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with son, Edward and great- grandson, Brendan, Ben was predeceased by his parents, Helena and Klaus; six brothers and two sisters. Ben was born at the family farm on August 1, 1924, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He received his education at the Rhineland Community School. On April 23, 1944, Ben married the love of his life, Susan. As a bakery owner and a commercial corral cleaner, Ben displayed a solid work ethic and never begrudged his many years of working hard. He was faithful to his church, and enjoyed spending time grooming his garden and taking care of the yard. He enjoyed playing ball and was a good pitcher in his younger years. A Celebration of Ben’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Jim Hathaway officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ben’s name may be made directly to The Gideon’s, P.O. Box 3619, Stn. Main, Guelph, Ontario, N1H 9Z9.
