Mrs. Joanne Feenstra, beloved wife of Mr. Jacob Feenstra of Redcliff, was called home to dwell in the house of the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the age of 56 years. Joanne was born on May 8, 1950 in Gronigen, Holland, a daughter to Harm and Ida Ven Huis. At the age of 9 months, her family immigrated to Canada, first settling in the Lethbridge area. She was raised in Lethbridge and moved to Medicine Hat in 1969. Joanne gained employment at Alf's Greenhouses, where she worked for 12 years. She liked to spend leisure time with family and had a knack for crocheting quilts and blankets. Joanne had deep faith and was strong member of the Christian Reformed Church all her life. In her own words... "I love my church." Besides her husband Jakob, she will be sadly missed but always cherished by her children, Joyce Van Rooyen (Marc Mongrain), Monica (Lee) Rothwell and Paul Van Rooyen; grandchildren Lewis and Olivia; her mother, Ida Ven Huis; brother, Gary (Liz) Ven Huis; sister, Grace (Randy) Vos; sister, Mary (Gerald) Hendriks and brother, Ben (Trudy) Ven Huis as well as many nieces and nephews. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W. on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Celebration of Joanne's Life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive, S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend George Koopmans officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Joanne's name may be made directly to the ALS Society, Suite 400, 320 - 23rd Ave. S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2S 0J2.
