Jakob Feenstra, beloved husband of the late Joanne Feenstra, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the age of 63 years. Jakob was born in Workum, Holland on May 17, 1945, a son to Peiter and Harmina Feenstra. In the mid eighties, he came to Canada, first residing in Medicine Hat and later moved to Redcliff where he resided until the time of his passing. Jakob gained employment with Kulpe Lumber and had remained a loyal employee for the past 23 years. Those who knew him will remember him for his 'gift of the gab' as he enjoyed conversation with anyone he was in contact with. Jakob is survived by his daughter, Ragna and his son, Richwald of Holland; children of his late wife, Joanne, Joyce Van Rooyen (Marc Mongrain), Monica (Lee) Rothwell and Paul Van Rooyen who he will be deeply missed by; a brother, Ype (Annet) Feenstra of Holland; sisters, Ytjie (Ruurd) Van Bergen and Neeltje (Art) Roskan both of the Netherlands; a sister-in-law, Rose Feenstra as well as numerous nieces, nephews and Joanne's family. Besides his wife, Joanne (2007), he was predeceased by his parents, Peiter and Harmina Feenstra and a brother, Rein Feenstra. A Memorial Service in celebration of Jakob's life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Koopmans officiating. A private graveside service will take place prior to the memorial service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Jakob's name may be made directly to the ALS Society, Suite 400, 320 - 23rd Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2S 0J2.
