Mr. Cecil Ray Fels of Bow Island, beloved husband of Minnie Fels, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre while surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the age of 83 years. Along with his loving wife Minnie, Cecil leaves to cherish his memory two children: Ray (Janet) Fels and their children, Tara, Ken, Blake, Alison (Dan); Marie (Randy) Collins and their children, Lee, Deven (Larissa), Shaila (Chris); his mother-in-law, Mary Yacak. He is also survived by three brothers, Harold (Lavina) Fels, Lloyd (Irene) Fels, Francis Fels; three sisters, Cora (John) Tourangeau, Evelyn McDougal, Willie (Melvin) Butler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cecil was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Lydia Fels; two sons, Harold and Charles; his father-in-law, Mike Yacak; one brother, Fred; one sister, Arabelle; one niece, Kathy Butler and one nephew, Tim Butler. Cecil was born at Burns Lake, BC. on December 21, 1924, and raised in the Neutral Hills / Ardmore, AB. area. He married Minnie Yacak on July 3, 1954, the start of a wonderful 54 years of marriage together. Cecil began his working career as an apprentice before becoming a Master Jeweller / Goldsmith in Edmonton, then moving out to Bow Island in 1972, and for over 40 years he crafted many beautiful pieces of jewellery. He loved to travel, and in his younger years enjoyed hunting, fishing and was fond of playing cards especially cribbage with family and friends later on, as well as bowling. He was especially proud of his years of service with the Army and was a strong supporter of the War Amps Of Canada. Family and friends will always remember Cecil's great sense of humour and the positive impact he had on all around him. A Celebration of Cecil's life will take place at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. Private family interment will follow at the Bow Island Cemetery. If friends so desire, Memorial Tributes may be made to the War Amps, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON, M1V 5K9.
