Harvey Wayne Fregin left his earthly home to join God’s Heavenly Choir on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the age of 71 years. Although he ultimately lost his lengthy battle with cancer, Harvey was a focused, valiant, stalwart opponent, who with his Lord, met each challenge head
on. Along with his beloved wife and best friend, Diana Fregin, Harvey leaves to cherish his memory: mother-in-law, Rika Hooft; three sons, Wade (Michele) Fregin and their two children Ashley and Alisha, Darin (Kim) Fregin and their two children Bailey and Brooke, Cory Fregin; four sisters, Connie (Fred) Fischer, Ann Drescher, Janet (Ray) Bradley and Marlene Gunderson; three brothers-in-law, Derk (Sylvia) Hooft, John (Hettie) Hooft, Art (Geri) Aasman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Hugo and Jean Fregin; father-in-law, Dirk Hooft; two brothers-in-law, Tony Drescher and Pat Gunderson and nephew, Nathan Hooft. Harvey was born and raised in Medicine Hat. He met Diana while both were employed at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. They were married on August 1, 1975, and continued to reside in Medicine Hat. Harvey loved well, and was well loved in return. During their 35 year marriage, Harvey and Diana travelled extensively. Although he fished many different waters, Harvey’s favorite fishing holes are found in the Western Provinces and the Yukon. An avid outdoorsman, he felt nothing beat the peace of a quiet day on the lake or the solitude of fishing a mountain stream. A Celebration of Harvey’s life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor George Koopmans officiating. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in memory of Harvey may be made directly to the Medicine Hat Cancer Clinic or the Palliser Health Authority Home Care Program, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 4H6 or to the Palliative Care Society, #640 Professional Building, 640 - 3 Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0H5.
