Mrs. Astrid Marguerite Fischer beloved wife of Bert Fischer passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 7, 2011, in her 83rd year. She was born on the farm near Qu’Appelle, SK., on November 13, 1927. Astrid leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bert; sons, Gary (Shirley), Dale (Shelley) and Farryl Loney as well as her grandchildren, Shawn (Marnie) Loney, Brent (Marnie) Loney, Kyle (Erin) Loney, Rheana (Vince) Rogers, Kendra (Kurt) Stewart, Courtney Loney; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Benjamin, Esmeé, Dane, Vaughn, Kamden and Colter; step-children, Richard (Elaine) Fischer, Barry (Lynn) Fischer, Phillip (Sandra) Fischer and Chris; step-grandchildren, Peter, Brenna, Jonathan, Erin, Megan (Shane), Shannon, Christine (Danny), Michael, John, David, Brittany and Cameron. Astrid also leaves to mourn two sisters, Jacqueline Schlochter and Yolande (John) Karwandy. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Valentine LeGrand; brother, Roger LeGrand; sisters, Yvette Hatrick and Rita Smith. Astrid was predeceased by her husband from her first marriage, Bud Erixon. She will be fondly remembered by Bud’s children, Patricia, Murray, Robert, Gary and Cathy. Astrid was a life member of the Order of the Royal Purple, Associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Veiner Centre, the Redcliff Senior Centre and the Strathcona Centre Crib Club. Mom was a strong, independent woman who lived her life to the fullest. She loved life and we loved her. A Celebration of Astrid’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. The celebration will be followed by a reception at 22 Park Meadows Dr. S.E. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Astrid’s name may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 Crestwood Square One, 1865 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 1Z8 or a charity of your choice.
