Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Evans(2010)

“WHEN A LOVED ONE BECOMES A MEMORY THE MEMORY BECOMES A TREASURE” Ken Evans of Medicine Hat, passed away on May 26, 2010 at the age of 76 years. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Loretta; children, Brad, Shannon (Rob), Regan (Shelley); grandchildren, Steven, Kolby, Ashley, Chase, Liam; great-grandchild, Coen; brother, Austin (Lucille) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Agnes and sister, Joyce (Al). Ken was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He entered the electrical apprenticeship program in 1955 and received his Journeyman status. Following 15 years of employment with Arrow Electric, he gained employment with the Department of National Defence. From 1974 to 1994, Ken was employed with Sask Power as an Electrical Inspector, the last 5 years position of Supervisor of Electrical Inspectors in Regina. Ken was community minded, coaching Little League Baseball, Girls Minor Softball and Church Minor Hockey. Although he had no knowledge of high school sports, he enjoyed watching his children and supporting cast of high school activities. He learned to play the bass guitar through his musical friends and in the ‘60's played in a band the "Playboys". Yes, they did have a following, however, his personal life was not of that definition. Ken showed his love of family and friends by "doing" when called upon and if he had no knowledge of the request, with considerable thought would come up with a solution. He was a very innovative man. During early retirement years, winters were enjoyed in St. George, Utah. Ken and Loretta lived 8 years in Salmon Arm B.C. and were members of the Salmon Arm Golf Course. After the move to Medicine Hat, summer trips continued to Salmon Arm for their golf fix and to make contact with their many friends. Ken fell ill prior to their departure this summer. He was a long time Medicine Hat Tigers supporter and season ticket holder. Ken will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ken’s memory may be made directly to the Palliative Care Society of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, 666 - 5th Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 4H6.
