Mr. Ronald Dean of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Mrs. Muriel Dean, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2004, at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, John Dean and Nancy Thompson; five grandchildren, Jordan, Sarah, Devin, Jessie and Erinn. Ron is also survived by one brother, Joe Dean as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Angelina Dean; three brothers, Jesse, John and Fred as well as one infant daughter, Janice Darlene Dean. Ron was born on January 25, 1922 in Calgary, Alberta. When Ron was 2 years old his family moved to Medicine Hat and later to Grassy Lake where Ron was raised. He married Muriel Baines in Edmonton on May 23, 1957. Ron worked as a men's clothing salesman with T Eaton Company in Winnipeg and Calgary from 1942 until 1982 when he retired. He attended the Christian Community Church in Calgary for many years. He had many interests including fishing, walking the coulee, baseball (his favorite teams were the Toronto Blue Jays & the Montreal Expos), gardening and golfing. Some of his most memorable occasions were vacations to the Shuswap (Copper Island Resort) and fishing at the Kootenays every fall. Ron was extremely humorous, kind, hardworking and industrious, and had a servant heart. He will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. A graveside service officiated by Chaplin Wade Lorentzon of Mount Royal College was held at Hillside Cemetery on Wednesday, September 22, 2004.
