Mrs. Marion Roberta Diemert, beloved wife of Mr. Leonard Diemert of Medicine Hat, passed away in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the age of 96 years. Marion was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Chamberlain, Saskatchewan. Along with her family, she moved to Moose Jaw and she obtained her teaching credentials in Regina. On June 30, 1935, she married Leonard Diemert and the couple resided in Mendham, Saskatchewan. Marion was known in the area as she taught school in several rural communities in Saskatchewan. While in Mendham, she also assisted in managing their General Store. Marion was a hard working, caring person who always focused on the best qualities of those she met. Teaching came naturally to Marion, both traditional subjects and piano lessons. She enjoyed life by traveling, reading, summer trips camping and keeping up to date on current affairs. In 1958, they moved to Medicine Hat where she has lived ever since. Marion's memory will be cherished by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Robin (Gerald) Beckie of Taber and their children, Adrian (Jennifer), Carla (Kyle) Gouw, Nolan, Lana (Ken) Vanden Dungen and Malcolm; son, Roger (Lila) Diemert of Kansas City, Mo. and their daughter Amy (Nate) Woolery; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Warren Wells of Victoria, B.C.; sisters-in-law Violet (Albert) Gans of Leader, Saskatchewan and Violet Diemert of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and a niece Roberta Allen of Victoria, B.C. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Rhoda Wells; a brother Robert Wells; sister Kathleen Allen and an infant brother and grandson Frederick Beckie. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W. Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Father David Meadows of Holy Family Catholic Parish officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Marion's name may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 124, 430 - 6th Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2S8.
