Obituary - Muriel Dean

Muriel Dean

1922 - 2008

Mrs. Muriel Dean, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ronald Dean passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on March 16, 2008, at the age of 85, to be with her Lord and Savior. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, John Dean and Nancy Thompson; five grandchildren, Jordan Sarah, Devin, Jessie and Erinn. Muriel is also survived by two sisters, Rotha and Mavis; a brother, David and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Jessie Baines; her father, Bill Baines; one infant daughter, Janice Darlene Dean, and her husband Ronald Dean, in 2004. Muriel was born on November 27, 1922 in Red Deer, Alberta. Upon completing high school in Red Deer she attended secretarial school in Calgary. This was followed by employment with the T. Eaton Co., where she met her husband. She also worked at Loblaws and was the secretary for the Christian Community Church at Mount Royal College, Calgary for many years. In 1993, Ron and Muriel moved to Medicine Hat for retirement. Muriel had many interests including spinning, weaving, quilting and sewing, along with a good cup of tea! She also enjoyed yearly family vacations to the Shuswap (Copper Island Resort) and the Kootenays. Muriel and Ron's gift of hospitality resulted in their home being open to many over the years. Muriel especially enjoyed the ladies bible studies and sewing circle that met regularly in her home and always cherished their friendships. Through Muriel's quiet strength, compassion, and Christ like life, she became a spiritual mentor to many. We rejoice in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Friday, March 28, 2008 with Pastor Wade Lorentzon officiating.
