Obituary - Herve Dubois

Mr. Herve DuBois, beloved husband of Mrs. Lydia DuBois, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the age of 85 years. Hervê was born on September 8, 1924, in Coderme, Saskatchewan. As a young man he enlisted in the RCAF and spent the next 26 years in service, retiring in 1975, as a Master Warrant Officer. During his career, he was stationed invarious locations throughout Canada including Cold Lake, Alberta where he and his family resided for 30 years. On November 10, 1951, Herve and Lydia were united in marriage and was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Gloria. In his retirement years he enjoyed fishing and spent quality time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish. Hervê was a ‘happy go lucky’ fella who always remained positive. This quality, along with his sense of humor drew the attention of those around him. He was very likeable and was affectionately known as “Granpa” to the many exchange students that were hosted in his daughter, Gloria’s home. Known to be frugal at times, Herve, had a heart of gold and always made sure his family was looked after. He loved the family pet dog, Sydney and always had a stash of treats in his pocket for her. Herve will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his wife, Lydia; daughter, Gloria (James) Bailey; grandhildren, Mark (Chantal) Sakowich, Darren (Jennifer) Sakowich and Kendrah (Bill) Wells and their children, Madison and Logan; a sister, Hermine Syrenne; special caregiver, Gloria Almoros as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Eva DuBois; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elias and Zofia Korowec and a brother, Raymond DuBois. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Gloria Angle officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Hervê’s name may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
