It is with sadness that the family of Mrs. Lydia DuBois, beloved wife of the late Mr. Hervê DuBois, announce her passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the age of 79 years. Lydia was born August 28, 1931, in Prince, Saskatchewan. She spent her childhood growing up in Spears, SK., where she was involved in theatre. Lydia first joined the workforce in Richard, SK., as a telephone operator. While there she met her future husband, Hervê DuBois. They were married in 1951, and began their lives together first settling in Edmonton. In 1952, their marriage was blessed with the birth of their only child, daughter, Gloria. As a military family, they moved frequently and were stationed in various communities across Canada. Lydia ensured the moves went smoothly and with her nurturing ways, every new community became home for the family. She liked to be kept busy and often tended to her garden and flowers. Lydia was an accomplished artist and created many wonderful paintings. She had a keen sense of family and cherished her time with them. One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother. She felt fortunate to have a life where she could spend time with them and watch them grow. She will be dearly missed and remain in the hearts of her daughter, Gloria (James) Bailey; grandchildren, Mark (Chantal) Sakowich, Darren (Jennifer) Sakowich and Kendrah (Bill) Wells and their children, Madison and Logan. She is also survived by a brother, Eugene (Phyliss) Korowec. Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Hervê in 2009 and her parents. Lydia’s memory will be privately remembered in prayer by her family. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Lydia’s name may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
