Obituary - Robert Doane

Robert Doane

August 17, 1922 - January 2, 2011

Cook Southland Funeral Chapel - Doane(January 2, 2011)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Doane announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother which occurred on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Doane; son, Greg Doane and his children, Chelsea (Travis) Stafford, Katie Fagan and Scott Fagan; great-
grandchildren, Kaine and Kalli; sisters, Beatrice (George) Fisher and Edith Reid; sister-in-law, Darlene Doane as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Katherine; brother, John; two daughters, Colleen and Jacqueline. Robert willingly sacrificed much while raising three generations and always ensured his family would not go without. The grandkids were the apple of his eye as was evident through his unconditional support for each of their endeavours. Robert made many good friends through his involvement with the Moose Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed forty years of employment with the CPR, and always made the time to enjoy his sports, especially hockey, curling or a game of crib! He liked traveling, and most notably, his trips through Northern and Central America. The memory of his strong-minded, yet gentle, giving and caring nature will not soon fade in the hearts and minds of his family and many friends. Robert’s life will be cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Medicine Hat Chapter, Box 481, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1G2.
