Clarence Collins

1923 - 2004

Mr. Clarence Collins, beloved husband of Mrs. Viola (Vi) Collins of Burdett, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the age of 81 years. Clarence was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on March 7, 1923, a son to John and Nettie Collins. He was raised on the family farm in the Burdett area where he also received his schooling. At a young age he developed and interest in different sports, including badminton and later, the festivities of curling bonspiels. He also had a keen interest in fishing which carried on throughout his life. Clarence enlisted in the Army and served with the Calgary Canada Highlanders in Europe. He was later posted in Canada at a P.O.W. camp in Lethbridge. Clarence returned to his original roots as a farmer and worked his land near Burdett for many years. Besides his wife, Vi, he will be remembered by his children and grandchildren, son, Emery (Diana) of Burdett and their children LesleyAnn (Dwayne) Waldbauer (Harley & Holly), Dalton Collins, Andrew Collins, Traci (Perry) Stephenson (Parker & Karli); son, Cliff (Scarlett) of Taber and their children Kali and Jenae; daughter, Pam (Brian) Moen of Bow Island and their children Melissa, Robyn and Morgan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and Vi's family. Clarence was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Harry Ruggles officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Clarence's name may be made directly to the Bow Island Health Centre c/o Bag 100 Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0 or to the Bow Island Fire & Ambulance c/o P.O. Box 1127 Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0.
