Obituary - Alvina Cowie

Mrs. Alvina Barry-Cowie (nee Berg) of Medicine Hat, passed away at the Sunnyside Nursing Home on Friday, October 7, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Alvina was born on December 15, 1917 in Estuary, Saskatchewan, a daughter to Henry and Katy Berg. Alvina raised her children in Empress, Alberta and later moved to Calgary where she resided for many years. In her latter years, she moved to Medicine Hat where she resided at Sunnyside Haven until the time of her passing. She was most dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her three children and families, Morley (Mildred) and their children, Daniel and Clinton of Medicine Hat; Gordon Barry of Little Smokey, Alberta and his children, Darcy, Aaron, Vicki and Lee; Lorna (Allan) Rogers of Kelowna, B.C. and their children, Kim (Gary) Geislinger of Edmonton, Corey Roger (Marilyn Cote') - Cody and Ashley of Medicine Hat, Tedi (Eric) Schmold - Tyson and Hayley of Coaldale; a sister, Lydia Tarr of Oyen, Alberta; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Berg of Abbotsford, B.C. She is survived by 16 nieces and nephews and extended families, Heeg and Rutz. Alvina was predeceased by husband, Rawleigh Barry in 1961 and husband Donald Cowie of Calgary in 1978; her parents and siblings, Martha Kercher, Edward Berg, Irene Schmidt and a grandson, Jimmy Barry. The Funeral Service will be held at the South Country Village (Wuerfel Auditorium) 1720 Bell Street SW, Medicine Hat on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bob Findley officiating. Interment will take place at Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary at a later date.
